Last updated: August 9, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Boterview (“we”, “us”, or “our”), owned by Nathan Brunner, Chemin du valon 20, Sierre, Switzerland, collects, uses, and shares information when you use our websites, apps, and related services (the “Service”).

Questions about this policy: contact us through in-app Customer Support.

1. Who we are

Boterview is an AI learning product (courses, flashcards, voice practice, and related features). The Service is operated by Nathan Brunner, located at Chemin du valon 20, Sierre, Switzerland.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:

Account information: name, email address, profile image, and authentication data when you sign in with Google, Apple, or email magic link.
Learning and product data: courses, flashcards, progress, streaks, energy/gems, quests, badges, onboarding answers, notes, and support tickets.
Uploads: PDFs and other files you upload, plus text extracted from them to generate learning content.
Voice and audio: microphone audio streamed in real time for Socratic Chat and voice challenges (processed by our voice provider). We store session metadata; we do not operate the Service as a long-term personal voice archive.
Billing data: subscription status and payment identifiers. Card details for web checkout are processed by Stripe; App Store / Play purchases are processed by Apple or Google.
Device and usage data: IP address, browser or device type, approximate timezone, app version, and usage analytics. On the website, cookie-based product analytics and signed-in identity linking run only when you accept analytics cookies; we may still measure aggregate site traffic with cookieless analytics when you reject analytics cookies.
Notifications: push device tokens and email reminder preferences if you opt in.

3. How we use information

Provide, personalize, and improve the Service and AI-generated learning content.
Authenticate you, secure accounts, and prevent abuse.
Process subscriptions, purchases, and customer support.
Send transactional messages and optional reminders you enable.
Analyze product usage and website traffic (cookie-based product analytics on the website require consent; limited cookieless aggregate traffic measurement may occur without analytics cookies).
Comply with law and enforce our Terms.

4. AI processing

We use third-party AI providers to generate courses, challenges, flashcards, recommendations, and voice interactions. Content you provide (such as prompts, notes, PDF text, and live microphone audio for voice features) may be sent to those providers solely to operate the Service. AI outputs can be inaccurate; they are not professional, academic, or career advice.

5. Sharing and subprocessors

We share personal data with service providers that help us run the Service (hosting, databases, payments, email, analytics, AI, push notifications). A current list is on our Subprocessors page. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

6. International transfers

We are based in Switzerland. Many providers process data in the United States or other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards and contractual protections offered by those providers.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

Our website uses essential cookies (for example, to keep you signed in). With your consent, we also use PostHog analytics cookies for product analytics. We may use PostHog cookieless web analytics for aggregate traffic measurement without analytics cookies. Details are in our Cookie Policy. The mobile apps do not use browser cookies in the same way; they may still collect analytics consistent with this Privacy Policy and your device settings.

8. Retention

We keep account and learning data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward as needed for backups, disputes, security, and legal obligations. You can request deletion of your account in Settings; we then delete or anonymize personal data except where we must retain it by law.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, or to object to certain processing. You can update profile settings in the app, delete your account in Settings, or contact us through Customer Support.

11. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us through Customer Support and we will take appropriate steps to delete the information. If you are 13 or older but under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with a parent or guardian’s permission.

12. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the Service after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.

13. Governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Switzerland, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
